District Movers was founded in 2013 by J. Anderson, who turned his passion for helping friends and family move into a full-service moving company.

Anderson started by assisting friends and family with their local moves in Washington DC. He quickly realized there was a need for reliable, affordable movers in the area and decided to turn his side gig into a business.

He partnered with his college friend Justin to officially launch District Movers. Starting with just one truck, they provided stress-free local moving services in DC.

As word spread about District Movers’ professionalism and care for customers’ belongings, the demand grew rapidly. The team expanded to over a dozen movers and a fleet of trucks to handle moves of any size. Today, District Movers provides a range of residential and commercial relocation services within DC, Maryland, and Virginia. 

We’ve performed over 5,000 moves in the capital area, earning a reputation as the premier local moving company. At District Movers, customer satisfaction is our #1 priority. John leads the company with the same values as when he first helped friends move
